Okay here is a little update on my Carnivore diet. For six weeks not a speck of food that wasn’t meat, eggs or fish has been past my lips. Well I fibbed a little, I have had two cups of regular coffee (cream and sugar) and a glass of red wine, in that six weeks. I confess although I have zero cravings, and am not really hungry at all, I do miss my regular coffees.
For about the first 4 weeks I was drinking coffee with cream in it apparently that is allowed, but my weight loss was almost non existent so two weeks ago I started with the black coffee. -I am not a fan!
My mornings usually consist of a couple of scrambled eggs, and some form of meat or fish. I am partial to rib eye steak, but pork chops or hamburger will do. This morning I fried up some hamburger and added a couple of eggs to scramble.
I was invited out to Thanksgiving dinner, I only ate turkey, I did allow myself a little mustard and a three inch glass of red wine (pretty sure the wine is a no-no but I went for it anyway) I will check my ketones in the morning to make sure I am still in ketosis (burning fat for fuel instead of carbohydrates)
I have eaten baked salmon, liver, and beef heart, sausage and bacon, and a little chicken but mostly it has been beef. Mostly thick rib eyes, approximately 6 inch diameter, I cut it in half and have one piece for supper and one at breakfast the next day. I generally eat two meals a day.
I don’t have any mood swings, but then I never really did, but I sometimes would be dragging mid afternoon. I find my energy is quite consistent and I do think my arthritis has improved a little bit. My psoriasis on my foot has improved a little bit, it is not gone, but it has improved. I have lost 9.6 lbs. that is not a huge amount by any means but I suppose it is in the acceptable weight loss criteria for 6 weeks carnivore.
I will continue it for another 6 weeks and see if the weight loss will continue and if the psoriasis will improve more. Psoriasis can go in to remission so this may just be a fluke, and thinking my arthritis has improved “a little” may be more placebo effect (thinking because I am doing something it will work) than anything. The 9.6 lbs. of weight loss is probably mine to keep. To reach my ideal weight I need to lose another 26 lbs, and that alone may improve the arthritic issue. I am not the most athletic creature but I do try to put in at least a twenty minute walk each day. Till next time!
My attempt at a van gough! “garden” in oils
In carnivore, the general consensus is that if you’re trying to calm an autoimmune disease like psoriasis, it’s best to do 6 weeks of beef (or other ruminant meat: deer, buffalo, bison), water and salt as an elimination diet and see if that quickstarts your progress.
